The Many & Surprising Benefits of Using Raw Honey as a Face Mask & Cleanser

Beneficial Properties of Raw Honey:

Raw honey has natural anti-bacterial & anti-inflammatory properties that can help with puffiness, heal wounds & even combat signs of aging. Its natural moistening effect helps hydrate skin. The natural enzymes & beneficial bacteria of raw honey help speed up the healing of blemishes & wounds & will gives the skin a lovely glow. It has natural exfoliating properties for clearing dead skin cells and cleaning pores & skin. Honey is very gentle & considered safe for all skin types including sensitive skin. If this is your first time using honey on your face however, we do recommend doing a spot test first just to be extra safe. That being said, I have never known someone to have a reaction to honey.

Adding Benefits with our Naturally Infused Raw Honeys on your face. It's in the herbs...

Our infused honeys are made with freshly ground organic herbs & warmed in a slow, low infusion process over a number of days. This means all the beneficial properties of raw unfiltered honey are blended with the properties of the herbs themselves. Some of these herbs have been found to be very beneficial to the skin & are often found in skincare products, such as rose, lavender & Ginger. Of our infusions I like to use all three of these infusions for my face as a wash or mask. These three herbs are commonly used in body care products because they have been found to have healing, soothing, tightening & cleansing effects on the skin. A little research will help you choose the infusion that will give you the particulars support that your skin needs. You can also blend them. Ginger can be a strong one and if you want a little bit of ginger without the full intensity of this infusion, which is a potent one and made with fresh ground ginger root, you could blend it with our virgin clover honey, which is the base for all our infusions.

Ways to use Honey as a Face Wash or Mask

As a Mask:

Spread a thin layer of honey over your face while it is dry. The smooth buttery texture of our infused honeys & creamy virgin clover honey will prevent it from running down your face. The creamy texture makes it easy & soft to spread over your skin (be aware of occasional larger bits of herbs from the infusion). If the honey is cold it will be more difficult to spread. This is easy to address, gently warm it up by holding it in the palm of your hand. Let it sit on your face for anywhere from 5-20 minutes tip: start with shorter times & work up then rinse off with warm water.

As a Wash:

Take a rough Tablespoon of honey into your palm & add a little warm water. Mix with your finger until blended. Rub into moist skin in small circles. Avoid getting in your eyes. Once applied over your face and worked in as desired, rinse with warm water.

As an Exfoliating Wash:

If you want a little extra exfoliation you can make your own exfoliating & moistening face wash by mixing ground up organic oats with your desired infused honey. Blend together with warm water. Rub in gently using small circular motions then rinse with warm water.

Follow up with your desired moisturizing cream & enjoy smooth, glowing skin!
