Hand Turned & Hand Carved Madrone Wood Citrus Juicer
Hand Turned & Hand Carved Madrone Wood Citrus Juicer
This natural hand crafted hand held juicer feels good against your palm and is made to be easy and comfortable to grip. Juice lemons, limes or oranges easily and naturally for salads, guacamole, drinks, soups and baking. It is a beautiful display piece, perfect for small batch juicing and easy to clean.
Chris created this handle design for the juicer after a conversation we had about a sauerkraut masher with a similar end. I was telling him how comfortable the rounded end is for my palm and wrist, which tend to bother me. The wide, smooth handle end is shaped like a door handle and spreads the pressure across your palm and put your wrist in a more ergonomic position, making it easy on the wrist and a nice display piece.
It's these simple pleasures of using a hand crafted piece of function art that make life more enjoyable.
The technique for a juicer like this is to squeeze the fruit against the edges of the juicer as you gently turn it.
This Trees Story
The Pacific Madrone is an evergreen member of the heath family (Ericaceae), closely related to blueberries, mountain laurels, rhododendrons, and manzanita. They are relics of Madro-Tertiary geoflora that lived on this same land millions of years ago. They are a striking tree with beautiful red bark and a curving twisting growth pattern.
This tree lived to a ripe old age and fell naturally on her own during a storm. We harvested and dried the wood, preparing it for carving. This is one of the beauties that came from this tree. A one-of-a-kind piece of function art for your kitchen and home.
