Hand Crafted Manzanita Spoon ~ Small Serving Spoon ~ Large Eating Spoon ~ Appetizer Spoon
This beautiful manzanita spoon was hand carved from sustainably sourced native manzanita.
This spoon would be perfect as a small serving spoon on an appetizer platter, a mixing spoon for baking, making soups and sauces. It would be perfect for portioning spices, scooping herbs from a jar. Portioning and stirring tea or coffee.
It is elegant and long handled, with a deep wide bowl that could be used as an eating spoon for someone who enjoys a large spoon. It would work well for eating anything from soups to stir fries to oat meal. If you have never eaten with a wooden spoon, its a great feeling!
This spoon measures 9.25" long and the bowl is 2.5" long and 1 & 15/16" wide at the wides point.
Manzanita is a very hard wood, carving and sanding take quite a bit of time and elbow grease. It is a beautiful wood with tones tones of red and amber as well as gentle shades of the sun. It is not an easy wood to work with but incredibly rewarding and well worth the effort!
There will not be another spoon just like this one and if you take good care of this spoon it will last for generations!
The Story of This Wood:
Manzanita (Arctostaphylos manzanita) is a large shrub native to California. The way it grows is beautiful, the bark is smooth and red, the branches twist and curve as they grow, creating beautiful natural shapes. This piece demonstrates the natural shape of the manzanita tree, curved, soft and smooth. This was pulled from an old family ranch. These manzanita lived long lives, and grew until they died of old age. It's called The Manzanita Grave Yard. This was carved from wood pulled for such a purpose.
